TRAINING PLANS
Team Kattouf
Glory Hound Events is proud to announce a new partnership with TeamKattouf to provide comprehensive training and nutritional plans at a very reasonable price. We will be offering two twelve-week training plans: one for those training for a sprint triathlon and one for an international distance triathlon. In addition to being race specific, the nutrition plans are gender specific, tailored to the specific needs of men and women athletes.

12 Weeks to a Olympic Distance Tri by TeamKattouf - $79
12 week plan that get you ready to roll through a successful Olympic/International Distance Triathlon. The plan incorporates base endurance and evolves to include high end aerobic efforts, bricks, and tricks (S-B-R). The plan incorporates a heart rate test at the start and periodically throughout the 12 weeks. There are strength training and plyometric workouts included in this plan and that can be printed off to take with you to a gym or for use at home. Since this plan is based on heart rate it is appropriate for individuals who have been exercising 5-6 days per week for 45 min - 1hr for at least 3 months or more. The plan moves from 4.5 hrs to 8 hours of training per week. You will need access to a pool, strength training equipment, heart rate monitor (preferred), and the ability to follow a plan and trust in the training.
12 Weeks to a Sprint Tri by TeamKattouf - $79
This plan will get you ready for a sprint distance triathlon and beyond. It is for the individual who has put in at least 3-5 hours per week of base training. It is a detailed structured plan that incorporates strength, endurance, interval efforts, bricks, and is ready to introduce a little speed and skill to their triathlon arsenal. This plan will get you up to speed with just 4-7 hours of training per week and offers tips for a faster performance. You will need access to a pool, strength training equipment, heart rate monitor (preferred), and the ability to follow a plan and trust in the training.
Each training plan includes one of these gender-specific nutrition plans.
Nutrition Plans
If your goal is competing in sprint and/or Olympic distance triathlons, our meal plan will suit you well as a female triathlete. In this meal plan, you will be provided a plan for daily nutrition as well as pre-training fuel and in-training fuel. This will ensure that you are well fueled. On this plan you will consume an average of 2,075 calories per day from fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, nut butters, breads, fish, beef, pork, chicken, and turkey. We want you to enjoy the foods that will allow you to recover and to perform at your very best! You will also be guided on how to stay hydrated during your work-day as well as before, during, and after your training/racing. Your rest days will contain approximately 1400-1600 calories. We understand your need for flexibility so you can adjust the nutrition days to best fit your exact training plan.

Asheville YWCA
The YW Triathlon Group is now in its fourth year having helped nearly 100 athletes reach their goals since its beginning. This is comprehensive training includes a 4 month progressive program takes participants of all levels to a successful triathlon. It has been great for first-timers, but many returning members are now training for international and Half-Iron distances. Training includes a complete schedule, weekly group rides and/or runs, specific workshops in each discipline and transitions. We have had age group winners from 10-14 to 60-64 and many in between! The group is led by Jeff Carnivale, who is certified instructor of ChiRunning, Cycling, Pilates, and a personal trainer. For more information, contact Jeff at trainer@ywcaofasheville.org.
Brother Wolf Animal Rescue
In anticipation of their annual Run with Paws 5K on April 3, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue is conducting a 6-week training period beginning on February 21. Sessions will be held at 5:30 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday's at Carrier Park. Dogs are welcome, but if you don't have one and want to run with one, BWAR will partner you with one of theirs through their Partner with a Pooch program. The program costs $75 and includes training program, race entry fee, t-shirt, goody bag and beer/wine at Yappy Hour (Feb. 17, Woof Gang Bakery).
